Play, has been selected as a finalist in the Paul Guest Prize for contemporary drawing.
Central to my practice is the creative process I employ. Instead of drop sheets, canvas lay across the studio floor capturing the drips, drops, and splatters of excess materials as I shift back and forth between one work or another; creating spontaneous marks that will eventually be selected, sliced and sampled in some as yet unrealised artwork.
I am more interested in these marks, as opposed to those we try to make, as they represent the thing that happens when we’re not looking, the line that leads us elsewhere, and often, to an unexpected journey.
